Treatment Benefit now Available to the Self-Employed

The Department of Social Protection has released a statement to announce that the Treatment Benefit Scheme, which provides dental, optical, and aural services, is now available to those who pay S Class PRSI.

This will service qualified self-employed workers as of 27th March. Previously this benefit was only available to those paying PRSI Classes A, E, P, and H.

This benefit scheme is in addition to existing benefits such as State Pension, Maternity benefit, Widow’s Pension etc.

This update is a welcome addition to boost the self-employed worker’s benefits. Similarly, in the most recent Budget the Earned Income Tax Credit was increased from 550 to 950 on its way to match the current PAYE Tax Credit of 1650.
